Look what TSS students made!

Skirts! As promised, I have gotten it together and collected photos of skirts our Intro Sewing students have made in class. Take a look at these beauties! During the last four weeks of the eight week program, Intro Sewing students make a skirt from a pattern and fabric of their choice.

This week we’ve been finishing up a another session of IS. Next week we have another round of classes starting (check out the schedule for dates and times). Register online for any of our classes, and in a few weeks we’ll be posting your work here!

Have you taken a class with us? Two things: first, dont forget about about Free Studio Time each Wednesday and Sunday from 2-6; second, send us a photo of your IS skirt, or any other project you’ve completed. We’d love to know what you’ve been up to!

It’s Sew Easy …

Ok, so we’re 6 weeks in.

You’ve pinned your pattern, chalked your fabric, nervously cut out the pieces and started sewing your skirt. For some of us, we’ve re-pinned and re-cut… but that’s ok, that’s why it’s called ‘Introductory Sewing’. You can finally see it come together. You may even be one of the brave few sliding the ‘speed dial’ on the sewing machine up a notch. Your confidence is growing. It feels good!

With any luck, (and some serious weather improvements) in a few short weeks you’ll be strutting your stuff in your new skirt and singlet ensemble on The Beaches promenade. Whether it was an experience fraught with pin jabs and constant unpicking, or simple and straightforward … stand proud and tall, knowing that you created something, from SCRATCH. I know in my case, that’ll be reward enough. My only problem now is deciding which class to do next!

Our new session begins the Week of March 16, 2009!

Our current session is winding down and in just a few weeks our next session will begin.  Starting March 16, 2009 we will have a new set of classes available for your to get your sew on!

If you are a beginner, take part in our Introductory Sewing course.  Definitely our most intensive course, you will learn to make a zippered pouch, a drawstring bag, AND a skirt from a commercial pattern.  Take this course and you will be making your own clothes in no time!  This is our longest course, which runs for 8 classes, 2 hours a class, 1 class per week.

8 weeks to much of a time commitment?  Then join our Quick Start class.  It’s our Intro course shortened to 4 classes, but you still learn the basics and still make a skirt from a commercial pattern.  If fashion isn’t your thing, we also offer this program with a home decor twist – Quick Start: House ‘n’ Home!

Already know how to sew?  Well, we always have intermediate classes available!  Try our Sewing PLUS class  where you can work on a project of your choice, and at your own pace, while having the guidance of an instructor available to you!

Can find the time to commitment to a weekly class.  Then see what we got for 1 day workshops.  Workshops are scheduled the last Sunday of every month and are only 3 hours in length.  You can alter clothes, make clothes for your pet OR sew some new pillows for your home.  In March we will be running our Serger Basics workshop – learn to use, thread, and maintain your serger!

We have so many classes to offer.  Please visit http://www.lovesewing.com for more information!

March Break at the Sewing Studio!

March is a busy month at the Sewing Studio. We have something going on for everybody. We have plenty of activities to keep everyone busy during March Break. We have three great boot camps that run each day for the week of March Break.

Introductory Sewing is our course that teaches you the basics on sewing and the sewing machine. So whether you’re brand new to sewing or just trying to refresh your skills it’s a great course taught by wonderful instructors who are there to help every step of the way.

The Kids Sewing Camp is our course for younger sewing enthusiasts. It teaches them creative methods of decoration, valuable knowledge about the basics of sewing and gives them a chance to express their creative side with some great projects.

Our third is The Junior Fashion Series. It helps teens discover the wonderful world of DIY (Do It Yourself) by showing ways to turn something old into something new through embellishments and alterations.

So take advantage and get creative with The Sewing Studio this March Break!
