La Braderie de Mode Quebecoise

A fashion lover's dream!

If you are at all interested in Quebec fashion and its designers, attending La Grande Braderie de Mode Québécoise is the place to start. The semi-annual event brings together 35 to 40 Montreal-based fashion designers and companies to sell surplus inventory or one-of-a-kind samples that were never reproduced. Normally, the event runs for three days and follows Montreal Fashion Week. And to top it off, clothing is normally marked down by 50 to 80%! Can you say Christmas Shopping!

The Creative Sewing & Needlework Festival

While looking up events related to the wonderful world of sewing, I came across something pretty amazing. The Creative Sewing and Needlework Festival. It’s basically a huge exhibit that runs twice a year (Spring: April 25th-26th 2009 and Fall: October 16th – 18th). The festival started in 1988 and has grown bigger and bigger each year. It’s said to be the world’s largest public event of its kind and covers 200,000 square feet. It attracts people from all walks of life, all over the world.

The Fall Festival is the larger of the two.  It is held in Toronto’s Entertainment District and features a conference program that provides visitors the chance to meet with some of world’s brightest talent, learn in-depth knowledge, and gain hands-on practice.

The Spring Festival also has a lot of great features and is held by the airport.

There are some great prizes to be won as well and a lot of cool things to check out. You can learn many things from easy D.I.Y projects to making custom clothing and jewelry. I think it’s definitely something someone interest in sewing at any level should check out. For more info visit http://www.csnf.com/index.html.
